The requirement
Heifer International approached Lantern Comitas early in 2023 for help increasing the profile of its operations across Africa and raising awareness amongst key stakeholders. The NGO helps smallholder farmers improve their incomes, resilience and stability through skill and knowledge development, innovation around agritech and access to innovative finance and is looking to increase its impact. Heifer Africa wants to raise the profile of its work, particularly among decision makers, donors, influencers and young people.
The results
Over the last two years Lantern Comitas has built a comprehensive communications strategy for Heifer Africa that includes media coverage and the growing use of digital channels. We have developed Heifer’s standing as a thought leader. We’ve supported Heifer’s comms at its own event, the AYuTe (African Youth and Technology) Expo and Challenge, and major external gatherings including the African Food Systems Forum in Dar es Salaam and Kigali, AFSIC in London and AWIEF in Cape Town. We have also helped generate more than 1000 news reports and supported the launch of new social media channels. As of late 2024 Lantern Comitas is set to work with Heifer Africa on a substantial website project, the launch of a newsletter and the development of corporate communications toolkits while taking on an additional role as its digital agency.
